Mainstream publishers have an advertising budget to promote their books, and a distribution network able to reach booksellers all over the country and in some cases, all over the world.

Self-publishing companies, by contrast, have an advertising budget which is spent promoting their services to writers wishing to publish.   They don’t do any marketing to sell your book.
